Stephen has been working professionally in the field of animation for the past 16 years. He began working for Pixar Animation studios in 1996 and has spent the majority of his career as an animator on such feature films as Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, and Cars. In 2009 Stephen joined the Theme Parks group, an ancillary department of Pixar where he is currently the Associate Creative Director. Stephen's work primarily focuses on supervising animation production for the Walt Disney theme parks, hotels, and cruise lines around the world as they relate to Pixar's characters and artistic content and vision. Most recently, Stephen supervised the design and animation of the animatronic figures forCars Land at Disney’s California Adventure Park.

Stephen began teaching animation in 2003 and has worked as an instructor at theAcademy of Art University and Animation Mentor. Additionally Stephen has served as a mentor for newly hired animators at Pixar, as well as privately mentoring aspiring animators across the globe. Many of Stephen’s past students have gone on to work at Pixar Animation Studios, Blue Sky Studios, Dreamworks Animation Studios, and the Walt Disney Animation Studios. Stephen has a passion for the art of animation and teaches to inspire and excite the next generation of professional animators.

Prior to Stephen’s professional experience, he studied character animation at theCalifornia Institute of the Arts in Valencia California, worked as an intern for the animated Feature “Cat’s Don’t Dance”, and animated for a summer at Sierra On-line producing animation for King’s Quest 7.
